I have been constantly watching Deaf Pager website and other website for GOOD deals on sidekick 2. Deaf pager website for long time say pay $145 or $149 dollars, and pay for shipping with $50 mail in rebate to Tmobile. Now they say they have "BIG SALE" going on for SK2. I check it out...same thing...they play trick on you..it now say *$95 dollars...then blah blah blah..but way down at bottom in SMALL letter..it say "$299.00 Sidekick II-$154.00 Instant Rebate (Quailifed customers only - approrved based on class A, B, C, L, and O) Total $145.00 (You Pay)" and then you use tmobile mail in rebate of $50 dollars. It same like before!

 Uh?? Where is BIG SALE? :pissed: I thought BIG SALE was pay 95 dollars finish with no rebate from tmobile??? I thought maybe like get free shipping and free accessories?? Am I confused?? Is this false advertising about sale?? Also we have to pay shipping?? I thought BIG SALE was get something for cheaper or bargain...hmmm I fast turn off by their mis-leading sales pitch. I will not BUY from them. :nono:

I just checked harriscomm.com and they have same sale..but it show at top that it is $149 dollars up front pay..but 50 dollar tmobile rebate which make it 99 dollars and they offer FREE shipping. NOW THAT IS A SALE!!

Well, it's all in the fine print -- some "sales" are sales -- they're just ways to get your attention to buy their product for whatever price they can make you pay.

I wouldn't pay a cent until I got exactly what I want, for the price I want, in writing. All the fine print in the world has made me wary that they'll bait you in with "sales" and you'll come out with your wallet lightened unexpectedly.

I sent deafpager $30 bucks and they sent me a T-900 that completely died in 30 minutes if use. Deafpager is only as good as a legitmate recycler of discarded pagers.

T-Mobile does the same thing. I went to several T-Mobile stores and they all had this $150 rebate special for their SK2. The original price was $300 making the final cost $150. I then went online and found that most websites that sell Sidekick only provide $50 rebates, but they sell their SK2 for $200 making the final cost $150. I then asked those website representatives why only $50 and they said that the other $100 rebate is in-store only.

That's when I finally got mine for free through Garthmobile. :thumb:

FYI you only can get sale price on Tmobile products ONLY if you have excellent credit. That is the only requirment to get sale priced Tmobile products.
T-Mobile have very strict policy and it is almost impossible to go around without losing money.

Tmobile WILL pay dealer that sells customer with excellent credit, even if there is sale price. BUT if dealer sells to customer with poor credit at sale price, the dealer stand to lose ALOT money, and Tmobile will NOT pay the dealer a dime.

Word of caution, if you go to a dealer and have then run credit check and got negative result, and decided to try another dealer, your credit rating WILL drop a notch or two making it HARDER for you to get Tmobile at better price. There is NO way you could beat, unless you can find idiot dealer (Rare you can find). Tmobile is damn strict about this policy, this means dealer can lose money if not following these policies.

Can anyone clairify why Tmobile prefers customers with good credit rating? Is it so that customer is more likely to pay monthly fees on time? This sounds discriminatory to me on Tmobile's part.

I am telling you a little secret. I am sure most people don’t know about that. Just go to any t-mobile dealer and ask that you want a phone. So they offer you to sign up on sheets for 1 year contract. Of course, dealer doesn’t tell you full info just hides info. So they push to you to sign up quick as they can and try making you skip read policy, info, contract, blah. Guess what? I ignore what dealer said and read on sheets careful. I see that t-mobile give you $150 DISCOUNT if you sign up for 1 year contract. I heard some dealer doesn’t have sheet. Just use computer and they don’t tell you full info and make you sign on “screen pad”

If you don’t know what screen pad mean? Here

That’s how I got free two Sim cards and one free cell phone. Well I bought Nokia 6820 unlock from eBay and I like to use t-mobile plan. I don’t need insurance. If I lost Nokia 6820 so I can use 2nd cell phone (free one from t-mobile) for back up.

Remember ignore what dealer said and read it yourself.

Just try it.

I can’t find any $150 discount from t-mobile internet info. OH well.

If you don’t happy with t-mobile's coverage then you can give it back and got refund BEFORE 14 days. If you don’t do return after 14 days then you are stuck for 1 years.

In capital world, like America... IT IS perfect legally! Tmobile went bankruptcy several years ago and had to reorganized. As per bankruptcy court order, Tmobile is required to check all prospective consumers credit before extend the service. This was intended to avoid re-filing on bankruptcy. It DID work for them. That is why Tmobile is continuing practicing them.
As with credit rating, the better customer have the better chance that company won't lose money. Those with bad credit have greater chance of default the payment and it is COSTING them money.
Same with insurance companies. If you have poor risk, the chances are you gonna pay higher premium than those who are very carefully and have better risk. It is NOT fair for drunk drivers to pay just same premium as those who don't drink and drive. I ain't gonna pay for somebody else' carelessness so therefore if they want to stay careless then cough up more money to cover the damages.

Where did you read that T-Mobile ever went bankrupt? T-Mobile has never gone bankrupt. Before they were T-Mobile, they were VoiceStream. VoiceStream never went bankrupt, either.

VoiceStream purchased ONE company that runs the T-Mobile Hotspots. That company used to be called MobileStar and when they went bankrupt and then VoiceStream bought them out.

T-Mobile does credit checks because everyone else does. According to them, it makes good sense to check. They feel strongly about it enough to refuse to do business with you if you don't submit to a credit check. You can stop this practice by refusing to do business with places that do those kind of checks. If enough people do that, they'll stop.

As for only approving special prices for people with good credit, I dunno. I've known one person who didn't have enough credit to get into a good loan for buying a house (they could only qualify for a really really bad rate) and were still able to get the special deals on Sidekick 2s. Deaf people as a class aren't that great with credit -- many deaf people aren't educated about credit, and have a hard time getting the income needed to have great credit scores.

I don't noticed you post here. Do T-mobile dealer still need code bar from sk2 box? My gf just got sk2 and cut code bar off from box and mail-in rebate to somewhere. Do you think she can get in-store rebate?

Yeah, credit checks are idiotic. Even apartments are doing this.. some places refuse you unless you have a 720 credit score or higher.. its RIDICULOUS! Unfortunately there are no laws protecting us against this kind of discrimination. Someone needs to push new legislation :>

No, it's not ridiculous to expect a credit rate that high. They want proof that you are able to pay for your rent. Would you want to loan money to a guy who never pays his credit card bills?
