WELLSBURG, WVa. -- A Salvation Army volunteer in Wellsburg, W.Va., was punched by a deaf and mute woman who was trying to get food for Thanksgiving, said police.

According to Wellsburg police, Elizabeth Vetanze, became frustrated with the volunteer as she was filling out paperwork on Tuesday.

"Some of the paperwork she had filled out wasn't complete. In the process of trying to explain to her, she got frustrated and took her anger out on a volunteer," said Detective Lester Skinner of the Wellsburg Police Department. "She got irate and physically grabbed one of the ladies and pushed her against a filing cabinet and punched her in the face about three times."

Police said the 48-year-old victim had her eye socket fractured, but returned to volunteer on Wednesday.

Investigators said Vetanze has a criminal record that includes a physical altercation with a police officer. There is no word on what charges Vetanze may face.

Salvation Army violated ADA law for deaf's right

I believed my good friend Elizabeth Vetanze's sign language attacked by the Salvation Army volunteer; and then she did attack her twice. The Salvation Army Volunteer refused to communicate with the pen and notepad to her and forced her to hear what they said with their voice without the pen and notepads. Wellsburg Police Dept. lied about her criminial history; but in Jan. 2010, she already filed a ADA lawsuit againt Wellsburg Police Dept and Brooke Co. Sheriff that violated ADA law for deaf's rights because they did assualt her and forced her to talk without sign language and no ASL interpreter since she was arrested, but her mental hypiene warrent was not arrest warrent in 2008. They laugh at deaf cultures and still make fun of deaf people being retared. Please be careful that News 9 and News 11 call deaf people DEAF and MUTED being discrimated seriously that's why Elizabeth can speak a bit and used an ASL sign language. Now a lot of deaf friends and I support Elizabeth Vetanze, but the volunteer is fine and lied, and wanted to file a felony against her for worthless deaf and muting. The volunteer did not show her bruises pictures on News 9 and 11. She love to screw us up being deaf and mute. deaf friends and I are very angry at Wellsburg Police Dept. and the victim that play around Elizabeth Vetanze being deaf and muted. Deaf and Muted are very rude words!!!!! We support her be freed and her attorney trying to dismiss her case due to ADA violations without ASL interpreter since she was arrested again plus the bond court without ASL interpreter. Please do not joke that. SUPPORT ELIZABETH VETANZE!!!! :wave::cool2:
 
Oh, my, that is terrible. I knew that newspapers and also on News on T.V. don't always telling the truth for honesty. They just want to make the big deal of making the story true and have lots of money to spread lies like that. The volunteer is not very helpful to anyone who are different than normal people. Geeze. She should not be working at the Salvation Army at all. But if the staff at the Salvation Army are like the volunteer, then that is real discrimination against deaf people and other people who have disabilities. Not good at all. :mad:

I agree with you here. When I see it says Deaf and Muted in USA, that is outdated and ingornant. Also this deaf person should never hit worker. We all deal with this shit all the time and we learn to tolerate with them.

Obviously, the deaf lady has a short fuse....so do I as times. But I do not push somebody against the wall and punch them 3 times!

The Salvation Army worker may have been ignorant about the Deaf., but did she deserve being punched over it?
 
I think they may be more to what started the fight the we know, even people with a short fuse need a bit more to set them off.
