Deaf Mother Helps Other Parents Overcome Challenges - WDAF

It's a way of life many of us could not comprehend: living without sound. One Olathe mother with degenerative hearing loss is sharing her story and bringing awareness of the deaf culture to parents in Kansas City.

Shanna Groves could hear for most of her life. She speaks normally and reads lips so well, she can have a conversation without missing a beat. But, Groves is nearly deaf, making it extra challenging to raise her three kids.

FOX 4's Megan Cloherty has more on her story.

If you're interested and want to learn more about the deaf community, there is a free meeting of the Metro Hearing Loss Association of America coming up on October 24.
