Deaf man punched in shameful attack - Blackpool Today
A MAN punched a deaf man after trying to talk to him in the street.
Alan Hughes, 24, of Pleasant Street, North Shore, admitted assault and Blackpool magistrates committed him on bail for sentence at Preston Crown Court.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the victim was walking on Bank Hey Street at 1am on December 30 when Hughes and another man tried to talk to him.
The victim, who was 95 per cent deaf, could not hear them.
He felt a blow to the back of his head and Hughes punched him in the face.
Trevor Colebourne, defending, said Hughes did not appreciate the victim was disabled.
