CUMBRIA Deaf Association invites local organisations to an open day tomorrow to celebrate the launch of its ICT Learning Centre.

From midday until 2pm people will get the opportunity to benefit from the centre’s facilities first hand.

The CDA centre offers help with using computers in a relaxed and welcoming environment, enabling learners to access the internet using broadband facilities.

Sessions start with an initial assessment to find out what the user wants to learn and how much they already know.

The free sessions will usually be held over a six to eight-week period and maybe at a very basic level for beginners, such as keyboard skills, or maybe to address a specific problem the learner is experiencing.

One-to-one help can be available on a short-term basis to learners who need individual attention.

CDA has experience dealing with a wide range of disabilities, including mental health problems, learning difficulties and physical disabilities.

The association can support older people, and anyone who may feel intimidated by mainstream educational facilities or who needs help in building their confidence.

Any organisation who feels they may benefit from use of the centre is asked to contact Cumbria Deaf Association on 01229 894646 for further information, and to confirm your attendance.

Anyone interested in booking a taster session should contact Frances, Laura or Lynne at the CDA Centre, 217 Duke Street, Barrow.
