Pet Tales: Deaf dog
Last spring we lost one of our little dogs. Our son immediately went on a quest to locate a new puppy. Having had many Boston terriers over the years, we quickly welcomed Eddie.
It took about a week, and we realized that Eddie was deaf.
Our vet told us that it would be unlikely he would ever bark.
But bark he does. His barking sounds strange compared to that of other dogs.
What it lacks in clarity, it makes up for in volume. He quickly bonded with Sweetie, our other Boston terrier.
They spend hours playing until the older dog tires and stretches out for a nap.
Since Eddie can’t hear her arise from a nap, he sits on her while she rests.
The moment Sweetie begins stirring Eddie is up and ready to play again.
