id like to know if u know anybody who is deaf and does work in security? (not police... just a security) if so please tell me how that goes for that person. any frustrations? any positives?

reason is cuz im gonna apply for security and i honestly have no idea if they will take me in considering the fact that im completely deaf... and any type of jobs like police, rent a cop, security, army, etc etc requires lot lot of communication. but this nice lady from security seem to be willing to work with me so i had a thought... hmm there must be someone here somewhere who also works in same field.
 
Hello there, my Uncle Larry used to be a policeman for training dogs. So he did meet two guys who is deaf which worked as secuirty. One guy works at the police station to watching to make sure no one carry stuffs that is very dangerous since he had the CI on so he could hear the beep from something you know what I talk about.. And, another guy is working at the airport in Detroit and he just check the bags to making sure nothing is in there you know??? So I guess it could answer your questions.. Also, they could hire deaf people for few reasons...
 
cool so they had no problem despite the fact that they have no hearing? should i really try for security? im a bit nervous cuz im not too good with rejections ya know? lol

I did see an article in Deaf Life when I was in school about a Hoh security guard. I've worked for five security companies and have never met a guard who is deaf/Hoh. Most places have guards working the main phone line after normal working hours (8am-6pm). Guards also have to be able to use the phone/PA system if there's an emergency. Good luck to you.
 
I have been told that I can't work as security airport. But you guys are starting to interesting me. I'm deaf but wearing CI.
 
airport security is one of many security places im gonna try and apply for. im going for securitas first cuz they seem to be most flexible and they offer training . so im going there tmw for tests to see if my background is good to them. then ill see what will happen. if ud like me to i will keep u guys updated on that.
