CSD to host poker run to benefit deaf youth campers | argusleader.com | Argus Leader
Motorcycle enthusiasts from across the region have an opportunity on June 12 to support deaf youth while banding together and journeying on a multi-stop route.
The Camp Lakodia Poker Run — hosted by CSD — has earmarked the proceeds from the event to help fund deaf youth campers attend the National Leadership and Literacy Camp (NLLC) at Camp Lakodia this summer. Camp Lakodia is on Lake Herman in Madison.
The NLLC focuses on increasing the overall leadership ability of its attendees, by strengthening campers’ literacy skills and by tapping into their potential for intellectual growth.
The Camp Lakodia Poker Run begins at 11 a.m. June 12, with registration at J&L Harley-Davidson. After registration, the participants are given a route map, and the run starts at 1 p.m. After five planned stops along the scenic route, the riders will draw their “poker hand,” where the final prizes (five $100 J&L gift certificates) are awarded.
Registration is $20, and a bandana is included for participants while supplies last.
For more information on the poker run, contact Pat Reiter by phone at (605) 782-1060 or via e-mail at preiter@c-s-d.org
