COUNCIL chiefs are to take over the running of services for deaf people and those with hearing loss.
As reported last year, Warrington Borough Council announced it was considering bringing services in house.
Following a consultation launched in October, 73 per cent of those affected by hearing loss and their carers and families were in favour of the service being managed by the council with 15 per cent wanting the situation to stay as it was.
Eleven per cent had no preference.
Clr Roy Smith, executive board member for health and wellbeing, said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation, it is vitally important that we meet the needs of deaf residents.
“We are now considering the views on what we can do to further improve the service and begin work with service users who expressed an interest in being involved in its development.”
