Construction planned to begin in June on Michigan School for the Deaf Campus | MLive.com
Officials plan for construction workers to break ground in June on a project that would build a new school for the Michigan School for the Deaf on their campus and renovate a building on the site for Powers Catholic High School.
The sale of the state-owned land to the developer was approved by legislators early this morning.
"This is a cost-effective, viable means to take the MSD forward," said Flint developer Ridgway White, of Lurvey White Ventures.
White said he expects the sale to be finalized in coming weeks. The project's next steps include another six months of architecture, engineering and some demolition work before construction can begin, White said.
