Connections Deaf Center and InTRAC sponsor screening of 'See What I'm Saying' » Evansville Courier & Press

Connections Deaf Center and InTRAC will host a public viewing of "See What I'm Saying: The Deaf Entertainers Documentary" at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Deaconess Hospital Auditorium, 600 Mary St.

The documentary is the first open-captioned commercial film in American history. It has won multiple awards, rave reviews and has screened in more than 100 cities worldwide.

A rare glimpse into the lives of deaf artists, "See What I'm Saying" focuses on four deaf entertainers — actor Robert DeMayo, singer TL Forsberg, Beethoven's Nightmare drummer Bob Hiltermann and comic CJ Jones — over the course of one year as they endeavor to cross over into mainstream audiences.

Hilari Scarl, a Los Angeles director and producer, will answer questions after the screening.

Tickets are $5 at the door or at Connections Deaf Center, 417 N. Weinbach Ave.

Proceeds will benefit Connections Deaf Center, which helps the deaf and hard of hearing communities of Southern Indiana through interpreting services, the DeF CaFe, American Sign Language classes and case management.
