Comedian highlights Deaf Culture Nigh at OU-L | Lancaster Eagle Gazette | lancastereaglegazette.com

Comedian C.J. Jones was at the Ohio University Lancaster Campus on Oct. 28, where he worked with theater students during the day and put on a show for Deaf Culture Night.

The show, which was hosted by the campus ASL Club and the Cultural Events Committee, began with a performance competition among American Sign Language and Deaf Studies and Interpreting students and their instructors. In addition, the ASL 6 class (Betsy Bobo, Alyson DeWitt, Kaitlin Goodin, Lindsey Karns, Sarah Pastorius and Jonathan Sheline) performed to "Love the Way You Lie."

Jones later entertained the crowd and spoke about the importance of forgetting about color and deafness and bringing out the bucket list and going for it, according to an OU-L news release.

Jones, who was raised by deaf parents, has been an educator and an advocate for the deaf for years, heading up Hands Across Communications, which is promoting an international sign language theater festival called "Three Day Odyssey Around the Globe." He also founded Sign World TV in 2001.
