Christmas and the dreaded price tags!!

Since this year is so hard financially on all of us due to the economy, how are you all doing with the Christmas shopping?

Hubby and I have made our gifts with love and everyone in our families know of this and are very appreciative to receive handmade gifts.

I've sewn quilts, we've put together gifts that we handmade candles, lavender sachets, jellies we made during the summer and we also buy Christmas tins from the dollar store to put our baked goods in to give as gifts as well.

Our families ask us what we want for Christmas, we ask them not to give us material goods because we just know we have no room here in our flat. Instead to keep the money and save for themselves and the family.

This year's economy has been really rough and we can see it ourselves.

How are you all coping with the shopping, gift-giving and so on?
 
I buy only gifts that I can afford. I don't charge anything.
 
I don't go into debt for Christmas either. With the price of gas so high before, and now food is higher and heating bills will be higher, not as much to spend.

So I have asked all family to keep to a low limit and I hope they follow my request.

I have done my shopping and gotten good buys on things I am pretty sure my family will like.
 
We are as well in a financial struggle.

We are just buying for the kids.

Hubby and I bought the younger niece and nephews the popular clothes that were on sale. Normally I'm the one that spoils them and my sisters have asked me to limit their gift cost to $20.00 each. Now that's hard for me as an aunt who loves spoiling her niece and nephews so I had to really look for BIG sales!

I was really glad Old Navy & La Senza had big sales so I managed to grab several pyjamas sets for them as PJ sets will do well at the dormitories.
 
we will have tiny christmas likely 20 each... Just max 200 bux to less that is it.. due $
As long we want have happy together family..
Cannot wait see my husband coming w/us for christmas holiday week. He'll taking airplane and fly to Calgary and to see us for Christmas holiday by two wks. We are thrilled and to see him and around their arms again. Just important we need him have together Christmas special. No need expensive Christmas. Just want family together. That important "LOVE and Cherish".

That's exactly right. No need to spend money to have family together. :hug:
 
Limiting the gifts. About 3 gifts for each kid and one for my hubby. The rest of my family will get a card and a family pic of us.
