yes that sucks. wish there have cures for it to stop from spreading out to others.

OMG! you only can get it once. if there is something else going on down there, his mother is totally oblivious to this or she is afriad of doctor finding out how he got it ?

I think the mother didn't even think he/she is sexually-active lol

I think what's happening is that he remember having chicken pox, and now that he is older, he assumed it is shingles or chickenpox. He just simply asked mother how to deal with chickenpox or itchy rash, and she trust her son whatever he says (as if he already been seen by a doctor or something) and told him to take an oatmeal bath for relief. Sexual diseases are usually far from a parent's mind especially when they don't think their child will share it with them.

Guys do tend to call their parents for suggestions. My husband does.

you can get chickenpox only once... but you can get shingles repeatly... Shingles come from chickenpox. If someone have the shingles and you never had chickenpox nor vaccinated by it, you can get the chickenpox that way.

In most cases, you can get it only once. But you can get it twice or more.

Hubby got Chicken pox twice. Upper half of body at age 5 and lower half at age 8. Really surprised the doctor according to MIL.

My uncle get shingles all the time in spite of vaccines.

I have never had any of the childhood "diseases" except for German Measles. Mother exposed me to the brothers when they had them, but I never got them. My kids also have never had any of them.

I thought repeated chickenpox are usually called shingles.

Shingles are different from chicken pox. Shingles are due to the dormant bacteria from the chicken pox. The bacteria itself never leaves the body.

Chicken pox can re-occur, but it's not common.
