"brilliantly pure with a stunning nose of spring flowers, blackberries, cassis and earth"

93/100: Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate

The fact that wines such as this can be purchased is unbelievable - Robert Parker

There are 3,000 cases of the naked, virginal, unoaked 2011 Bastide Miraflors Vieilles Vignes made from 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache aged in concrete. The fact that wines such as this can be purchased is unbelievable. Largely an artisanal wine, it is brilliantly pure with a stunning nose of spring flowers, blackberries, cassis and earth. It is almost incomprehensible that something of this quality, complexity and richness can be purchased for (US)$25 to $50, much less (US)$12. The 3,000 cases should be gobbled up as quickly as they hit retailers’ shelves. I am honored to share my excitement about this amazing wine with readers. Robert Parker

One of the oldest viticultural areas of France, vines in the Roussillon were cultivated by the Romans, and perhaps even before that. With some of the most dramatic topography in France, many of the zones are composed of extremely steep hillsides – resembling the Priorat in Spain in many ways.

Crossroads Milestone Series Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2012

"creaminess to the mouthfeel"

Fruit from ‘Kereru', ‘Home Block' and ‘Southbank', barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months on lees in 35% new French oak barriques, with 41% undergoing MLF. Bright, full straw-gold in colour, a little lighter on rim. The bouquet is softly pack with concentrated aromas of ripe, lightly savoury citrus fruits along with attractive layers of nutty oak and flinty interest. Medium-full bodied, softly presented and gentle flavours of citrus fruit are harmoniously entwined with spicy oak and flinty detail. This has good weight and presence, and a creaminess to the mouthfeel, lifted by some acid zestiness. The flavours grow, becoming bight, crisp and lively on a long and sustained finish. Match with roasted poultry, pork and veal over the next 4+ years.

Matua Regional Reserve Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Gold Medal: Marlborough Wine Show

Blue Gold Medal: Sydney International Wine Show

trophy New Zealand Wine Producer of the Year: International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC)

A bright clean appearance with fresh lime green hues. Lifted notes of berry fruit and blackcurrant. This full bodied, knock out Savie has a juicy and refreshing palate. Mouth-watering acidity is balanced by a long, elegant, mineral finish.

Matua Valley was founded in a tin shed in 1974 by two brothers, Bill and Ross Spence. The brothers wanted to make wine in New Zealand that was as good as any in the world. As a small, family-run winery in West Auckland, Matua Valley quickly gained a reputation for innovation and producing award-winning New Zealand wines. The name Matua (mah-too-ah) in Maori means “head of the family” which is a very appropriate title, as Matua Valley produced New Zealand’s first Sauvignon Blanc in 1974 just outside of Auckland, paving the way for the phenomenon that this unique wine style would soon become. Almost 40 years later Matua Valley is recognised globally as a premium New Zealand wine brand with a broad range of award winning wines.
