Residents at the Action on Hearing Loss care home in Epsom, which supports people who are deaf or hard of hearing, marked the charity’s centenary celebrations last month with a sponsored walk.

Staff and residents took part in a walk across Epsom Racecourse to raise funds for the care home in Gibraltar Crescent which helps people with hearing difficulties live independent lives.

Christine Downing, manager at Action on Hearing Loss’s residential home, said: “Our sponsored walk was our latest local event marking a special time for our charity, as we look forward to our future, supporting people as Action on Hearing Loss.

“We had a great time walking across such a famous course and we’re grateful to everyone who donated funds and helped us raise £60 which we’ll put towards leisure trips for our residents.”

A resident who took part in the walk added: “It was a good day to do the event because there was no rain!

“We enjoyed the sandwiches during our picnic with all the families who came.”

Action on Hearing Loss, formally RNID, has been rebranded to better describe the breadth of people that the charity supports from those who are deaf, have tinitus or are hard of hearing. For more information visit actiononhearingloss.org.uk or call 0844 800 3838.
