I can't blame some of them for changing their names , it did not sound very 'Hollywood' or easy to remember .

John Wayne is that issue too, his real name is actually different but it just didn't sound "western" and manly.

Edited to add:

One thing the list didn't show Tim Allen (Home Improvement) - full name is Tim Allen Dick. I believe he removed his last name for a reason. lol

Charo stage name is nothing like her birth name below. I can see why she change her name, it too long to write on a check.

No wonder their real names are hard to pronounce within their tongues. Some of the celebrities are easy to pronounce. It has to be the right name for the stage name so that it would be easy to be recognized. Also the stage name is a way to protect themselves from nosy people and not let some reporters or gossip column person to know their private lives. That is my opinion. Wow, over 3 hundred celebrities. Whoa. :shock:
