Capable owner sought for deaf puppy

Owning a pet dog involves responsibility and care that need to be fully considered by anyone thinking of adding a pet to their household.

A puppy recently handed into the Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, however, is in need of a loving family of a certain kind, for she is completely deaf.

The Scottish SPCA says Eve is a nine-week-old collie cross and otherwise completely healthy, having been checked over upon arrival at the shelter.

Carers at the site are hoping the "fantastic" pup finds a skilled and patient owner - ideally, one who already owns a pet dog who can help to teach Eve certain behaviours and provide support.

"There is no reason why she can't lead a normal and full life," senior animal care assistant Laura Kane said. "[She] really deserves a second chance."

The Scottish SPCA's Edinburgh and Lothians centre is also looking to rehome animals - three of which arrived recently having slithered around the capital.

The snakes are harmless and need someone with appropriate knowledge and experience to look after them, it explained.
