CAN Deaf Blind Services Receives $15,000 Grant Award

Communication Advocacy Network (CAN) is pleased to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Eugene G. & Margaret M. Blackford Memorial Fund, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee for operating support of Deaf-Blind Services.

This award will support the demand of training and hiring Support Service providers (SSPs), hosting support group for deaf blind individuals, and assistance to new Deaf Blind individuals who are interested to register for receiving Deaf Blind services. There will include deaf blind individuals and elderly from the age of 18 or older to be served by this grant. The other source of funding for deaf blind approved candidates had been funded by the state agency, Board of Education and Blind Services (BESB).

Michelle Clark, President, Deaf Blind Association of Connecticut had quoted in her own personal words, “I am deaf-blind all my whole life. I am very proud to be part of this program because CAN has promoted Deaf-Blind consumers to feel “alive” and be able to do like what most consumers do. I am very grateful that I have my SSP service provided by CAN which makes me more productive! Thanks to CAN for allowing Deaf-Blind community IN the society.”
