Hi All Deaf!

I am new into this site. I think I can talk with you, Deaf people who can interact with me and let me experience, learn and share.

I would like to ask you the question " can Deaf filipino work there if employer/boss can help and pay for the visa and ticket flight?

the reason why I am still looking for a job because i need to help my family.

In my country(Philippines), it is not good and not aware about Deaf.

Hope you could response me or help me.

Thank you for your kind.:ty:

Faye

I really seriously doubt it dude. with so many unemployed here and so few jobs and hundreds of more then qualified seeking jobs, there is NO WAY a employer is going to call you and pay for your visa and flight just to give you a job. hearing or not.

sowwy to be harsh, but its the facts.

The only time I've seen this to be the case (employer helping pay and dealing with the headaches of legally bringing in a foreign worker, getting green card,/work permits etc) is if you happen to work in a highly specialized field of work and the employer can prove to the government that there is no one locally (within the state/province, sometimes within the country) that is available to work at that job or has the same high level of training.

I know that when I was in the USA as a Uni student, I wasn't able to work PERIOD until and unless I'd been a legal resident of the USA for 24consecutive months. I would have qualified to work in my field (highly specialized, high demand etc) however I already had a job waiting for me back home (in Canada) when I graduated so I didn't pursue it.

Honestly with the North American (espeically USA) economy the way it is right now, I don't think the chance of legally entering the country for means of working is likely - unless you're a specialist of some kind that is in demand in the USA (or Canada).

Sorry :(

Only plenty of jobs are available for you is to work at large farm.

Guys thanks for the messages you've shared. I would like to share with you. I talked to my hearing friend last 3 months ago i think. She was successful to be hired by American there. I asked her how can she get an american job while she was in the Philippines? She explained to me, she asked her friend who lives in the US and her friend met her boss to discuss about her work. Her boss needed to interview her on the webcam. So, she was ready to interview then hired. Her boss paid her for the visa and ticket. That is why I wondered if Deaf can do the same.

I wish I can do the same as Hearing does.

if not, find a way!

thanks for reading!

It is like your friend just won a job lottery.

Faye, have you been in touch with your friend since she went to the US? I don't want to alarm you but it sounds very fishy to me. It raises 'alert' in my books. Are you sure it was a respected legitimate business that hired her?

That what I was thinking too :(

Unfortunately there has been a huge problem in the USA and Canada with people setting up "Nanny businesses" and other similar jobs where they trick people from the Asia, the Philippines etc to come to NorthAmerica as "live in ____" they pay all the documents etc, promise them jobs and then once they get to where they are suppose to get their job they end up trapped in prostitution rings, brothels, drug mules and all manner of really horrific things.

There was actaully a 3 part news documentary about that a number of months ago, stating that it's becoming "common" and many people are ending up destitute, trapped in the country and being held effectively prisoner (their letters are all "approved" before they're allowed to send anything to anyone, they aren't allowed to say what's really happening, instead they're forced to write lies such as "enjoying my new job as nanny ... i work very long days, so i might not be able to write very often, but i'm very happy here" when they are really being kept in squalor)

I'd be very concerned for your friend as what they described is not at all something that happens "in real life" unless they have a very sought after skill set (highly specialized knowledge not available domestically etc)

Yes we are still in touch. Well, my friend's friend who helped my friend. thats why she trusted her friend. Yes she told me an employer contacted POEA/Overseas here in the philippines before she flied to USA. she is a call center agent. and yes thats true, there are lots of scams about the housekeepers, nanny, etc in the internet that i've read.. many fools.. tsk tsk. Most nigeria did that. I was fool once I was asked to send money for ordering a cell phone but it did not work. Bitch NIGERIA PEOPLE!! sorry to insult but you should know that is a sin! :wtf:

I agree with others. Things like that rarely happen. You have to be in a very specific line of work or be transferring a job.
And I agree with the situation of your friend as well. You may want to check on her... :-/
If you can get to the US you may have more job and schooling opportunities. Could you get into school and come over here as part of an exchange program?

oh yes we are still in touch. her friend helped her thats why my friend trusted her friend. anyway she told me her employer contacted first to the POEA/OVERSEAS here in the philippines before she flied to USA. of course the company paid for her overseas permit and her salary was deducted from flight ticket, overseas permit, visa documents....

I wish employer from american finds me but silly because too much busy.

Think about this possibly, if you really want to get to US.

sound odd. human sex trafficking is a huge underground business.
Some deaf women from Eastern European were caught up with it.

hey there, i let you know that i am hard of hearing so i am also filippino and have 2 jobs. you are the only one could get a job, but it doesn't matter about the race. so hope enjoy with the job. :)

i mean faye, you are not only one gettin to know about gettin a job. i have seen lot of country people could get a job in america immediately, but depend on some of them couldn't because they seems doesn't have any experience with the skills for job. i let you know i moved to usa from philppines when i was 5 years old.
