You don't know about them? Sad.
I consulted with my friends and we all agreed its not even worth giving AGB the publicity.
...sorry for the threadkill.
But it wouldn't....It would basicly point out that oral only is a HUGE HUGE business, and AG Bell sweeps the fact that oralism is a business (meaning it's dependent on very expensive healthcare) under the rug. This could raise hearing parent's awareness that the "independance" that AG Bad pushes is in actuallty dependance, since it's dependent on very expesive healthcare to suceed. Even middle class people may not have access to decent healthcare!"
Wait wait, are you saying that HAs are crutches? Same for CI? I thought we were all pretty much accepting of anyone and everyone who falls into the d/hh category, regardless if and what technology they may use and regardless of how they were raised. Yes, I used to wear HAs and I am considering going back to them, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed the way I was raised as oral and mainstreamed. I don't see HAs as being a crutch, but it doesn't make me hearing. At the end of the day when I remove them, I am still d/hh just the same
As a child with a CI is still deaf at the end of the day. It is to be used in conjunction with ASL. Maybe I am 'too hearing' but I still identify myself as d/hh because
That's what I am.
JMHO.

I am curious.. What made you and your friends decide it is not worth giving AGB the publicity?? As you know AGB and audists oppress us Deafies on jobs, education, etc..
Better to invest our energy in other things...
Plus: AGB can say "They're just angry that we're providing hearing to deaf people..." And the masses will just believe them.
That was what I thought was your reason was....the Deaf community really needs to get together and really advocate for ourselves...
at the boldWell... to be honest, I feel no one should bash/critique ABELL organizations if you want to promote ASL. I don't think parents or anybody would interest in Deaf politics, so it is better to say so many awesome researches and great benefits from ASL. They are good enough to convince people that sign languages do work, and they show ASL is not a crutch or something.
I am not sure what I would say... I hope you know what I mean.
