THREE CASH PRIZES TO BE AWARDED
Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf is seeking talented artists to submit proposals for consideration as installations in the new CSD Student Development Center.
The purpose is to create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, parents, educators, business leaders, and other visitors through artwork that reflects sensitivity to the student environment, and promotes interaction between deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing students, faculty and staff.
Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing artists are encouraged to submit proposals representing professional quality artwork in any media. Proposals must reflect new ideas or work produced within the past two years. Art may be mounted, suspended, or may stand alone within the specified dimensions.
There are three interior spaces involved for this call for proposal. One proposal per space will win; artwork will be selected by an invited jury based on artistic merit and how well it satisfies the purpose. All remaining proposals will be considered for possible acceptance for future installation in other areas within the Student Development Center or within the RIT campus.
Each winning proposal will receive a cash award; production and installation budgets will also be available for each piece selected. Prize money for the primary space is $5,000, and $2,500 each for the other two spaces.
Proposal and entry form deadline must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2006. Winners will be notified by July 5 and artwork will be installed by Oct. 30.
