A California man, portrayed by prosecutors as a cult leader who claimed to be Jesus, was found guilty on Friday of killing nine of his children and grandchildren after fathering them by incest.

The Fresno jury found Marcus Wesson guilty of nine counts of first-degree murder and 14 sex crimes, including raping and molesting his underage daughters and nieces.

Wesson, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, appeared stoic as the jury returned its verdict. He faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole.

The jury deliberated for 10 days before reaching its verdicts.

Wesson, 58, was charged with fatally shooting seven of his children and two of his grandchildren, aged 1 to 26, at his home in Fresno in March 2004. He had fathered the victims with his wife and with daughters and nieces.

The killing started after a child custody dispute when two of Wesson's estranged nieces returned to claim their children provoking a standoff with police.

Wesson was suspected of impregnating family members so they could have "babies for the Lord," held Bible study sessions three times daily and proclaimed himself Jesus, prosecutors said.

Wesson's lawyers had argued the forensic evidence in the case did not prove that he had killed the nine victims.

In his closing arguments, lead defense attorney Ralph Torres said the Wesson family was "dysfunctional to the 10th power," but dismissed the prosecution's theory of a murder-suicide pact as "made up."

Prosecutor Lisa Gamoian had told jurors the two adult females who died were conspirators with Wesson and they aided each other in carrying out a murder-suicide pact. (Reporting by Jorene Barut-Phillips in Fresno)

Two Sickos

I couldn't believe this story when I saw it. This guy and the serial molestor both make me sick.

TX Gov. signed bill this week giving juries the option of life in prison without parole. I think that's too easy for these b*****s and one of the reasons that it's very unlikely that capital punishment will ever be stopped in this country.

Here's the link for the serial molestor story from Yahoo:

I've seen a true story movie about this sort of thing where the father thinks that Jesus send him this message by killing his children and his wife....

It does nothing but sickness me when people do such a thing like this story above...if he dies, I'm sure he won't like where he's heading after death! ...

I can't beleive when I read this post here.

Oh my dear. He's definitely sick man.

I cound not believe that I read this story about California man guilty of murdering nine of his children. He is a monster killer and molester!!!

:( This story is such a shocker. After what he did to those poor children, what he did to his family members, and then to have to kill those children like that is so sad!!!! Living in that kind of conditions, one has to wonder what kind of future those children would have had with that man Wesson if they had lived. When all said and done, will this man every feel guilty or sorry for the hurt and anguish he caused his family members, and also for killing his own children and grandchildren. One has to wonder. So sad!!! :(
