Cable companies want to offer "a la carte" to lower costs.

Comcast Corp and Time Warner Cable have lost 1.2 million video customers in the 12 months to June 30 because reason of high cost and ESPN is the most expensive channel.

I like local channels (Basic), TNT, TBS, few family channels, sports package, news and weather. I don't need music channels, shopping channels and children channels. I really like less than 50 channes. won't get 500 channels.

We dropped comcast after they switched to all digital. TV and internet was costing $200 a month with just basic internet and about 75 channels, we had 4 digital boxes.

We are now using TDS telecom bundle: Unlimied local and long distance with a bunch of extra's, 5mb/s internet (speedtest tells me about 6mb/s download) and DISH TV (with over 300 channels). We are paying only around $195 (less than comcast PLUS unlimited local and long distance landline)

Now they get it! Sorry, too little too late.

If we get to build our new house, then we will be going cable. We can't do satellite due to the airplanes. Not sure who we would use.

If we have to move out of the area, then we may go back to satellite.
