CA budget

Shows how little you both know about Jerry Brown. Brown was more fiscally conservative than Reagan, Duekmajian, or Wilson (to say nothing of Davis or Ahnold). He also supports (or at least used to) a flat tax. While he was governor, he kept a small apartment close to the capitol and drove to work in a sedan. He never wasted money on lavish parties or receptions. You know... all those little things "conservatives" are supposed to do, but don't.

He's probably the best governor the state has ever had. He rejuvenated the city of Oakland and kept all (or most, anyway) of his promises while he was mayor. As the attorney general, he's protected the rights of the people time and time again while standing strong against drug cartels and violent criminals. He has the backing of all the law enforcement agencies, labor unions, educational boards, etc.

Seriously, before you throw out your snide little jokes, you ought to check the facts on who you're talking about.

I know plenty about him......I am not sure he could solve his shoe laces now....much less California's problems.

umad, man? Doesn't take much, huh?

First off, you're about three weeks late to the whole "umad" thing. Sheesh, bro, get a new fro. And throw out the velor suit and platform shoes while you're at it. Mmkay?

Aside from that, is that really the best response you've got? I list a bunch of facts and explain why Brown is actually a viable candidate, and you say "umad?" Like that's some sort of rhetorical bulletproof defense? Since when is using logic and ethos equatable to "getting mad"?

I'm not mad; I'm LOL at you.

Sometimes when you respond in the ugly, scathing manner that you do, you should not be surprised at not getting much of a response if any.

Jesuit is what sticks in my mind....

Yeah that was the first thing....He wanted to be a Priest.....

Became buddhist later.

Interesting...I'll have to look up some dialogues with Brown on that aspiration. It may not weigh too much on my vote now, as I think Brown isn't really looking at a higher office after this. Whitman...$119 million...kinda  $$$$

I think I know who I'm voting for, but I keep my eyes and ear open for concrete arguments. Still amazed by the amount of misinformation and bad arguments that are accepted.

Aww, umad, man?

(See how this works?)

Send the unions south of the border and budget plms solved

To recap Day 90 and AD responses on how to fix the budget mess:

1. "California can't be saved"....(if it can't be saved, does it mean bankruptcy/dissolution?)
2. Jerry Brown can save CA... (After November 2nd election. Probably won't be in office until mid to late January and pretty sure a budget might get passed/bankruptcy by then?)
3. Send union officials (and all state employees?) to Mexico (and try their luck at securing favors from drug cartels?)

Day 91 update coming tomorrow... plus....some background on how CA government works. There's a lot of ground to cover so I'll try to cover a bit by bit per day.

I am guessing the will be bailed out.... :)

They are too far gone to save themselves.

There are some states in huge debt too since California isn't alone, is it right?

California state government salary - Sunshine Review

The governor of California has a salary of $173,987. However, city managers and justices are paid more than the governor. Although I imagine the governor's expenses are paid for while the others may not be.

From what I read, the state of California employs approximately 2.25 million people. Would it hurt to eliminate some of these jobs?

Wirelessly posted (Samsung Epix (i907))

Raising taxes won't help at all. Find a honest and trustworthy treasurers. Force illegal immigrants to pay taxes or leave the state. Get a different governor...that guy is all about muscle and no brains.

That seems like a lot of people; I'd always remembered for years that the number was more like 800,000.....
