I think this would only be cool if you have a very classic car. However, wouldn't it be better to leave this to a relative or something? Then they could drive around, instead of just burying it?

Yeah, I saw that on the news. (I live in South Carolina, so Saluda is considered "local" news.)

I don't think that's a classic car--just an old car.

How about that burying his guns in the car, too? Weird.

Did you notice the sign in the background? "Road Ends." Yeah, I guess it does for him. ;)

I wonder how much more his family had to pay for the oversize cemetery plot?

Did you notice the car tag was from 1990? He hadn't even driven it in at least 19 years.

What a waste.

Here's a little bit more about it:

Wow, you have a much better eye for detail than me, I didn't catch any of that.
I'm glad someone agrees it is a waste. I think his sister was right... It's just a show. But then again, isn't the whole world a stage, and we are but actors?

...and the car is but a prop.

One more question.

How is it legal to bury someone without a casket? Most cemeteries in South Carolina require a casket AND a vault.

Maybe they sealed the car so well it counts for both?

I saw it on the news.Like the saying goes " Can't take it with you" it looks like he did

Wow, that's interesting burial. Gotta be expensive for a bigger plot.

The plot thickens....

Do we have the right to bury anything we choose?

I do think its a waste. The car could've been used for transportation.

I've seen newspaper about guy buried with his corvette.

In 1994, the cremains of 71-year-old George Swanson were placed in the driver's seat of his 1984 Chevrolet Corvette, which was then buried in Hempfield, PA.

That's his fiberglass "coffin"

It was rather interesting.

I recalled that 11 years ago, my dad asked me to do internet search to find "Homemade coffin" for his friend to build one for himself. I found several interesting sites and you can build "coffin" which can be double as clothe closet, table ect. Once you die, your family member can clean it out and put in your favorite blanket and stuff in and buried you with it. It can be any type of coffin that you can build and put it on your Will that you wanted to be buried with the one you built. The real issue with Funeral homes that they refuse to accept homemade coffins that can fit inside the funeral home. Right now there are new law that allow anyone have rights to bring their homemade coffins to any funeral homes. Because funeral homes market coffins from company that build one like Artco (coffin manufacturer in Lenexa, KS where I am close by) and several brands which can cost from $4k and up. They don't want lose their comission. But now they can't force people to buy coffins which they can't afford. Something you can think about :hmm:

Here's the website you can check on that

Plans for making coffins - Do it yourself coffin plans

Scott's coffin How-To

Build your own coffin! (it's actually a bookshelf but taken apart and reassembled into coffin with almost no modifications. It's an excellent design to "hide" your coffin right under anyone nose!!)

You could ask Amish to build you their best wooden casket for ya :rofl2:

Or if anyone are computer freaks and they can be ceremated and their ash can be inside of their favorite CPU case. :Ohno: :iobarf::ugh:

I wonder if grave thieves would dig up the grave and retrieve car and dump the body, clean the car and repaint it and sell it?

I don't think that is possible. They can't dig up a grave and take car and gun out in one night. The theives would need a crane. :P

They removed the engine, gas tank, and transmission.

Also, I think the dirt piled on top would crush the car.
