I wish I knew how to develop a buddy travel system. See what I have here below:

See, last year, someone offered me $30 to deliver a bike from Evanston, IL to Tinley Park. It was not worth my time so I declined. I wish I knew someone who commuted from Evanston to Tinley Park for work so that they would use that $30 to pay for their commute. Today, I had someone who lives in Joliet who was debating whether to come to Evanston for a bike. I wish I knew someone who commuted from Evanston to Joliet. I'm not asking anyone to work for free. They would pocket all money from delivery itself.

If you look at map, you'll see Tinley Park is about 60 miles from Evanston. Joliet is like 50 miles from Evanston.

So, have any of you ever tried to develop a buddy travel system or a similar system. How did it work out for you??

So basically, if a bike was $95 and delivery to Tinley Park was $30, I would ask the person to give me $95 cash. Then when they deliver bike, they would get $95 plus $30 at time of delivery. THey keep all delivery money.

Sounds like a nice idea, but what would happen if the package is lost, will you or the driver be liable?

Why not look into how much Greyhound/GreyGoose would charge to transport it ... It's likely very reasonable and they cover insurance.

I have shipped few bikes via greyhound. TO get the best deal, a bike has to be disassembled and boxed to ship. Then buyer has to put bike back together. Many times buyer doesn't want to go through that hassle.
