Items with plastic identification "recycle" code of 1, 2, 4, 5 or 6 are free of BPA. Plastics labeled 3 or 7 for recycling may contain BPA. Metal cans are lined in plastic and may contain BPA but no labels inform consumers.

In the Anchorage paper a while back was a story, a survey was done with a small group of people and the expensive tests were done on them to see what kinds of toxins they were really packing around in their blood. Oddly enough the lady that was probably the most health conscious and walking the talk had the way and above most high level of the plastic trace stuff in her blood. She was shocked and completely unable to figure out the why of it.
 
We live in a world surrounded by chemicals and we only do so much to avoid chemicals. It makes sense to avoid what we can.

Could beauty products have been the source of chemicals? A researcher tested Anderson Cooper and found chemicals in his body from the professional make up applied routinely for tv broadcasts. Some people who eat a lot of fish end up with mercury poisoning. I was surprised at how little fish could cause it. EPA recommendations are here:
