Body Found Near Home of Missing FL Girl

It's a start, Ms P. The problem is, though, regardless of how well you think you've equpped your child to handle it when they're approached, something bad could still happen to them. You already pointed this out, yourself. An adult is a lot bigger and heavier than a child is, so they are still no match for your average adult. I'm not saying that it's not a bad idea, though. I think anything that would help a child survive a potential attack is better than nothing, but you also have to be realistic. Children are simply too small to fend of an attack by an adult.

:(

I know those kind of programs that provide for the little ones too but hon, most sexual offenders are men, and they are more stronger than a little child, believe me , teaching youngers ones, won't really help much....maybe a few kick in the balls  but they sure won't get away with it...

Maybe it will help when a stranger try to kindnapped a child, or push them into their car, it might help them save themselves, but for others things I dunno....

Exactly!!...

Fine, then don't get mad at God and then make laws very very tough...
and prison gets full and more prison to build, and high tax paying
and more children missing...

So fine... at least I tell ya about defense class.

But I am trying to say that you can turn
your poodle into a mean pitbull.

When my 3 years old cousin... I tried to pick her up...
And she was scratching me,,, cause she didn't know
me very well.
She scratch my mom and other strangers...
and they leave her alone.

Many adults are scare of a little bee...
cause it got a sting to defend itself.

And Skunk, many people don't wanna be around that.

Even spray cat, nobody want to mess with that...
cause that will scratch up your skin.

And all the small things... that most people scare of
when small animals use their defend.

Even a parrot and a parakeet bit me....

It will be hard for men to rape kids if they scratch and kick...

Even when they try to kidnap ya, kids should learn to scratch...
and all. Cause when kids scratch, strangers will say OUCH!!!
And people will noticed,, and strangers will go somewhere else and leave
that kid alone.

That is my point I am trying to make.

Are you scare of a bee sometimes... they are one inch. Do you
see how people get scare, they would run and go in the house.

So you need to teach your child how to use defense or something...
And that way Strangers will be scare.

That reminds me of something I have heard from a while ago, Miss P. :) I read that if you get attacked and the guy wants to rape you or something, you can deter him by

1. kicking him where it hurts
2. urinate on him
3. spit at him in the face
4. If you have a long type of key (for car or door) or anything else in your hand, use it as a weapon to defend yourself. Poke it in his eyes if you have to....it's all about defense, right?
5. If you have mace in your hand or within reach, use it!
6. If you have a heavy bookbag or a purse, use that...hit him with it if you have to! Or if you have another item that can hurt another person and you can carry it, that can be a good weapon to defend yourself.

These are just ideas of ways that you can defend yourself...it's not just for kids, but for grownups too (like rape victims).

Calm down, Ms P. I'm not saying your idea isn't a good one. It's actually a really good one. I just think you have to be realistic when it comes to children. Defense courses won't protect every child.

That's all.

That doesn't always help. Samantha Runnion, a five year old from California, was abducted, raped and then killed. She fought like hell, but she was found dead two days later. When they recovered her body, they found she had the idiot's DNA under her fingernails. HE was found with scratches all over him. So, even though this little girl did the best she could, she still couldn't get herself out of the situation she was in.

:(

well at least the cops got the DNA.
And the scratches on his face show evidence...

I remember the guy at my college... and
I was wondering why he had scratches
on his face....

And he was a good looking guy.

But he always bring girls to his dorm room.
And he always tell me by pointing to his dorm room....

I remember he was mean looking...
and I always see his smiles and nice appearance.
But I never seen him being mad that day.

And he kept saying that I got big hip. I told him
that I don't have a hip, I got big butt... that is all.

He told me to come by his dorm.
He was too weird for me....
So I just leave him alone.

Those scratches on his face make me think twice....
I don't want to be a rape victim or anything like that.

So at least defense can be good. May not save a child life
but save other children or women's life.

Huh? The Angel told Zechariah, "John will be a great man for the Lord (God). He will never drink wind or liquor. Even at the time when John is born, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit."

Who said the Holy Spirit is God?

There is a new law that's just been enacted in the name of the slain girl.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush Signs Jessica Lunsford Act
Strengthens Punishment and Monitoring of Child Sex Abusers

By DAVID ROYSE, AP

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 2) - Spurred by the kidnapping and murder of a 9-year-old girl, Gov. Jeb Bush signed legislation Monday that strengthens punishment and monitoring of child sex abusers.

The Jessica Lunsford Act sets a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison for people convicted of molesting children under 12. If offenders serve less than life, they would be required to wear a global positioning system device after their release so authorities can monitor their whereabouts.

The bill was quickly drafted after the Jessica's body was discovered March 19 near her home. The proposal sped through the legislative process, pushed by outraged lawmakers - many of whom said it was hard to temper their anger and not go for something even harsher.

It passed both the Senate and House unanimously and was sent to Bush on April 22.

Convicted sex offender John E. Couey, who lived near Jessica, is charged with her killing. Couey did not inform the state when he moved into the girl's neighborhood in Homosassa, about 60 miles north of Tampa.

The House had passed the bill unanimously April 19, two days after another sex offender was charged in the abduction and murder of 13-year-old Sarah Lunde of Ruskin. David Onstott allegedly told police he choked Sarah and dumped her body in a pond on April 10. Onstott was convicted of a sex crime in 1995.

Advocates for satellite monitoring of offenders say that in addition to warning authorities when a sex offender is someplace he shouldn't be - such as near a school - it also will allow for quick pinpointing of suspects if a child is abducted.

The tracking requirement only affects people convicted in the future, but current sex offenders who violate their probation would be ordered back to jail or be placed under GPS monitoring.
