Is this wise? I mean, is this REALLY wise of what Sony's going to do next?

Sony said they would bring their movies from Sony pictures on Blu-ray with portable software that you can use to transfer media on your PSP, laptop, or other electronics...etc sounds like its a whole new version of UMD.

I don't see how this is a bad thing. What they're saying is that the Blu-Ray discs shortly will be containing files that you can transfer onto a PSP, laptop, etc. Meaning you may be able to watch the movie not just on your Blu-Ray player but on other equipments too. It's a sure bet it will have copy protection built into these files.

Still, I don't think it's a bad thing. It just add even more options to what you can do with a Blu-Ray disc.

I dont know cause there arent any sales or that this kind of software with blu-ray is out yet.

so since Xbox live have released movies download and it seems to be okay and Sony's planning to do the same thing but we dont know when and even so Sony do that...in my opinon it would be pointless to transfer media from blu-ray movies to the PSP or laptop when you already got a PS3 to watch blu-ray movies...and to put a note on that, I dont think the PSP is even capable of playing HD movies.

(If they mean PSP2, that could make more sense...)

I don't believe the 1080p version will be transferable, but they may put a portable version of it on the disc to go with the 1080p version just for these who want to watch it on their PSP or whatever they can view it on. The resolution will probably be close to DVD rather than BD.

Myself, I'm not really into the OnDemand services. I'll rather own the real thing... in person. Not as a file.
