Bill would rename Vancouver's School for Deaf
The Washington School for the Deaf would get a new name and a statewide mission under a bill that has passed the state House.
The bill sponsored by Jim Jacks of Vancouver would change the name to the Washington State Center for Childhood Deafness and Hearing Loss.
The Vancouver Columbian reports it would become the base for delivering services to students statewide who are deaf or hard of hearing. The residential school, which has 118 students, would remain as part of the center.
