I read from someone's post that she said she believes in God but don't follow the Bible because it was written by men.

If that is so, if people don't follow the Bible, then why do we have death penalty?

And a person support gay rights, but then support death penalty...
Ignored the Bible saying something about Homosexual is abomination, but focus more about Eye for an eye.

I don't get it.

In my opinion, men didn't just write the Bible, men wrote the Bible because God told them to.... It is God's words.

So we gotta follow the Bible, whether we are Christians, Muslims, Jewish, or Mormons.

We can't do wicked things and be Christians at the same time. We are sinners and we need to try hard to not be tempted by devil... And follow the Bible.

You can´t compare gay rights with death penalty...

Hindus believe in God but not in the Bible. Muslims believe in God but not in the Bible. Jews believe in God but not in the Bible (the Tanakh yes, but not the "Bible" in the Christian sense). Secular theists may believe in God but do not agree in any particular religious text, believing instead only that a God exists. Believing in God does not mean subscribing to a particular religion, it simply means one believes in God.

We have the death penalty (or don't, as the case may be, depending on location) generally because of misconceptions of people on what the judicial system is for and how it is supposed to address crimes that occur.

God (and Jesus) were silent on homosexuality in the Bible. There is nothing in the Old Testament about it at all (Leviticus was mistranslated, read it in the original Hebrew to understand) and the only mention of it in the New Testament was in one of Paul's letters, in which he also claims women existed only to serve men and have babies and that women had no capacity for anything remotely resembling intelligence, all three of which have, in society, been proven entirely incorrect.

Other religions believe God gave them their holy books too. Muslims believe the Qur'an was dictated to Mohammed by the angel Gabriel, speaking for God. Hindus believe the texts from the Hindu avatars were acting as proxies for God. All religions believe their holy text comes, in some shape or form, from God. The notion that a religion can logically assert that other religions are wrong for believing exactly the same thing (that their holy book is divinely inspired) is just absolutely absurd.

Not all of us fall into those four groups... And Jews follow the Tanakh and Talmud, not the Bible, Muslims typically believe in all of the Qur'an but only in some parts of the Bible, et cetera. Mormons also believe in their additional Book of Mormon as religious canon.

People who claim to be Christian sure have a way of pointing others of their sins or what they believes etc, yet they're not taking a very good look at themselves, I think some people needs to pratice what they preach....

God will judge a person's actions not you, not me or not anyone....Christians cannot correctly weigh action, motives, opportunities, nor know all things about any individual.... God alone is capable to do so....

That's pretty much all I'm going to say! :ty:

What about "thou shalt not kill"?

We shouldn't support death penalty.

It only said eye for an eye, not life for a life.

I need to re read the Bible again.

:gpost: Teresh...

All what I thank God and Jesus to give me strength...

I have strength to decide what kind of life I lead to... instead of depend on God all the time and do what God wants... I know God would want us to cope ourselves with our decision....

I thank God to give me brain that I can work with my brain to learn anything what right or wrong...

Bible? It written by humans.

I enjoy myself to read bible to know where we come from... it is like "history"... not do what Bible says.. but decide myself what I can do... what I can help my children... It´s ME who have strength to do everything..., not God.

I don't support the death penalty, but I understand why some other people do (usually either a misconception in the purpose of the judicial system or poor interpretation of scripture). Acknowledging and understanding why people do what they do does not mean agreeing, and indeed in this case, I very strongly disagree. The death penalty is one of the most useless and idiotic ways of dealing with the crime problem, but various people for whatever reason think it is acceptable and I'm intelligent enough to understand why they think that...and use that intelligence and express it in the form of voting in state and federal elections, voting instead for people who have a better understanding of why most other first-world nations do not implement it.

I guess God mean something different word than reglious authors think... "thou shalt not kill"?

Let me guess myself what those word mean is...

God do not support put people to death because it should not KILL them...

Yes - YES you do. Here, start with this...

Matthew 5:37-39 King James Version (KJV)

37But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Here's another translation:

Matthew 5:37-39 The Message (MSG)
Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

37Just say "yes' and "no.' When you manipulate words to get your own way, you go wrong.

38"Here's another old saying that deserves a second look: "Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.' 39Is that going to get us anywhere? Here's what I propose: "Don't hit back at all.' If someone strikes you, stand there and take it.

And I strongly recommend:

Jesus said, "the law of Moses says. 'If a man gouges out another's eye, he must pay with his own eye. If a tooth gets knocked out, knock out the tooth of the one who did it' But I say: Don't resist violence! If you are slapped on one cheek, turn the other too. If you are ordered to court, and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat too. Give to those who ask, and don't turn away from those who want to borrow."

So death penalty is wrong.

i believe in god, but not the bible.

but i dont really care if other christians want to read the bible and follow it, thats cool. but its just not what i do.

Jesus said, "There is a saying, 'Love your friends and hate your enemies.' But I say: Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way you will be acting as true sons of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust too. If you love only those who love you what good is that? Even scoundrels do that much. If you are friendly only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even the heathen do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect."

Okay I love gay people and you guys are my friends.

well now u are being fake. there's a quote i like that goes "its better to be hated for who u are, than be loved for who youre not"

if u love gay people then go make a gay friend.

Jesus said, "All who listen to my instructions and follow them are wise, like a man who builds his house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents, and the floods rise and the storm winds beat against his house, it won't collaspe, for it is built on rock. But those who hear my instructions and ignore them are foolish, like a man who builds his house on sand. For when the rains and floods come, and storm winds beat against his house, it will fall with a mighty crash."

So we have to do what Jesus said or else we will all fall??
