Pek1 - there is nothing about this satirical cartoon that implies to me that anyone is saying "all Christians are Republicans" or that "all Republicans are Christians", nor would any American capable of abtract thought make this conclusion about any US Political party; but if you yourself have not seen the way Christian Fundamentalism has become associated with the Repulican party, you haven't been paying attention. (Southern Christians were, for many decades, traditionally associated with the Democratic party, so this change is rather remarkable.) My suggestion for ALL Christians is that if we do not want to become associated with partisan politics, we need only stop aligning ourselves with specific political candidates, or demanding specific ideals be included in the official platforms of the political parties - and heck, we can stop voting while we're at it.
That said, I am quite happy to have MY faith influence MY politics, and will continue to write to candidates, office-holders, and others involved in our local, state and federal government, judicial system, and corporations to ask that MY Christian values be recognized. (They just arent the same as the values held by many Fundamentalists.)
PS. Beowulf - very funny cartoon. LOL
