bathing a cat

My cat hate having a bath, but he knows better than to scratch me.
Although, he hated being washed, but loves having his fur dried by hairdryer and then *comes out the brush* he'd perk up and command me to groom him. :)

PS: when he stalked away wet, he looked like an anorexic cat.

Is your cat deaf by any chance? I have yet to meet a hearing cat that would want to be that close to the blowdryer while it was on...

Though I had a deaf cat who LOVED getting a massage from the hose attachment of the vacuum cleaner... ;)

:D I know what it's this since I have 2 cats... :D

My soon to be 20 years old Sussi has no problem to bath because she trust us but Kim, my soon to be 2 years old cat... :Ohno:

Kim's claw show FULL of nails... and teeth.... it look like she is an evil when I tried to bath her... I can't bath her alone but need my family's support... My hubby hold her and one of my boys hold back of Kim's bottom for me to shampoo her... when it over... I raising her with plenty water.... towel to dry her... her evil face stare to me... and open her mouth with shape teeth... :Ohno: Kim won't do anything with us for few days until she began to "forgive" us... come to us... I think it's our last time... no more...

Yes, you were right that it's not necassary to bath cat... I used to bath Sussi twice a year for almost 20 years with no problem... :dunno:

Actually no, he's hearing. :)

Aw, cute, how your cat liked the massage from vacuum.

When my cat was young and wild, I had to hold all of his paws altogether (hold it TIGHT!) while I splashed some water on him... I kept 2 inches tall of water in the tub and used a cup (to fill in and pour over him) to douse him... if I happen to lose control of his limbs, I just close the sliding doors (they are see-through) while he ran around the tub... at least he was getting himself wet since he splashed around in the water. :) I used the showerhead to rinse him off while he tried to claw up the wall of the bathtub... (in a way that he ended up standing-- much easier for me to douse him and rinse him out!).. and then I would pull the plug and leave him in the tub so he can calm down as the water goes into the drain... then I would arm myself with a dry towel to catch him as he jumped out of the bath tub.

But now my cat knows who is the boss and he just stood there in the tub, yowling and meowing for help... he would try to *slowly* sneak out of the tub, but I just scoop him back into the tub. He doesn't put up a fight anymore. Just ... meowing all the times. That is it. But I still arm myself with a dry towel to catch him when he jumps out. ;)

LOL, it was pretty funny! When she was younger and she could hear, she HATED the vacuum cleaner. And then, when she got older, it decided to shut up and play nice for some reason... ;)

i take my cat bath alike 1 or 2 times a year cuz of he never go outside that why.. he scare outside.. anyway.. i take him bath, he dont mad at me, his head down between in my arm.. i think it soooo cute and feel bad for him but need bath.. he is VERY WHITEEEEEEEEEEEEEE no color... after that, his fur soft and very white wow... hehehe..

I have bathes many cats as well as a new recent one. Wear a pair of heavy leather gloves, grab both front legs in one habd with a finger between the legs as well as the backs... you wont get clawed and the bites wont matter either, an have a second person hose/shapoo and rinse., The lay on a towel and let the second person dry them best they can ( even blow dry if needed ) when you let go they will bolt and hate you for the remainder of the day.

Someone did suggest to throw the cat in the toilet...and flush...presto!...No fuss, no mess. no fighting!....:giggle:

I just leave it for the vet...they offer to wash them for clients and since they're the professionals....let them do it. Cats clean themselves, so unless they get into something major, they don't need to be washed the way dogs do.
