In USA 90% cars are automatic. In Europe 90% cars are manual. American may be lazy to use automatic. :giggle:

Hmm, I'm not surprised about that....better gas mileage due to high gas prices in Europe. Even, you can rent a manual tranny vehicle in Europe. Most of them are automatics here in the US.

We always buy manual. Last time though the KIA salesman convinced us to take a Spectra with automatic. He insisted KIA automatics now get at least as good mileage as manual. Probably not true but we got a good deal on our trade in.

Am not surprised about that due most people use transit instead of driving.

Yea, even they have a mercedes with a manual transmission with steering wheel on the right hand drive in UK. That sounds pretty ackward for sure.

I may rent car in Austraila next year and be right hand drive. I will see what rate in taking rent-a-car later.

If I were you, there will be plenty of sydneysiders doing some road rages about obeying to road rules so yes, crowded traffic

If I can't drive it, I can hire you to drive. :)

automatic transmission for me.

I had tried manual transmission before and uncomfortable, not fit for me.

Speaking of gas economy, manual does improve the mpg by extra 2-5, it seems not very big difference to me, in my opinion.
