ATTAP/PATS joins DoT in giving livelihood to the deaf | Manila Bulletin
The members of the Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies of Pampanga (ATTAP) and Pampanga Agents Travel Society (PATS) led by their presidents Belen Guzman and Danny Cerdena, respectively, joined hands with the Department of Tourism–Region III in providing livelihood to the hearing impaired (HI) at the Angeles Elementary School by donating a sum of money for the sustenance of their bread-making project now known as Miracle Bread Shop.
Regional Director Ronaldo Tiotuico said that the twin organizations made headway in their commitment to provide better quality of life for people with physical disabilities especially for the members of the Pampanga Deaf Association which became an adopted association of the tourism regional office.
The bread-making project was initiated by the tourism regional office a year ago when DepEd Superintendent Antonieta Tiotuico called on well-meaning Kampampangan to help the division’s special education program by giving them opportunities to become productive in life and at the same time contribute towards the economic development of the community where they belong.
The bread-making project is now an ongoing initiative of the schools division and is now becoming a pilot project in several divisions in the region.
The sustainability of the program has been made possible thru the help of some civic and tourism-related organizations in the city.
Some 52 elementary and high-schools in Angeles City are expected to avail of the services of the deaf association.
