Has anyone gone to any of the ASL Expos? It is coming to St. Paul in September and I have never been to one, so I am curious as to whether it's worth going. I've never heard any of my deaf friends mentioning it ... Any feedback would be appreciated!

I went one in Atlanta, GA and it's okay. Pretty same as DeafNation but not much perform in there.

Would have to pay to get in. DeafNation is free. ASL Expo isn't.

I went to one last Novemeber in Pittsburgh, PA. It was cool. lot of intersting stuffs and learning what is there and especially socials.. it was great to see old friends especially from college days. :)

*shrug* i dont know.

i dont remember but i did went to ASL expo once.

We may go to ASL Expo in Austin in December. I am looking forward to that, because I missed DeafNation Expo last February due to being so sick. :( I was SO bummed. ASL Expo may make up for that! :)

What's different between a Deaf Expo and an ASL Expo?

you better be there at ASL Expo! I want to spank your hubby.

I went to deaf expo few year ago. I saw old classmates. It was nice. I don't know if we will have other asl or deaf expo in Colorado.

Two perspective to look at it.

If you are hosting a booth, you will consider going to ASL Expo because its cheaper. However, same people walk around and around. So you will be faced repeating people.
Deaf nation is expensive but more people show up and many new face all day at your booth.

As attendee of the event, ASL Expo is not free. Cost $5 to get in ASL Expo, and cost $0 to get in Deaf nation. More turn out familiar faces at Deaf nation than Expo. ASL Expo has poor planning and sometime located where parking is not free. It can be a budget buster.

I prefer Deaf nation because it generate more business for our booth and their reputation is far better than ASL Expo. The ASL expo has canceled two expo. One due to blizzard at Ohio and one unexpected canceled at NY. It show unethical and risky for business to host a booth at Expo. We are already considering canceling all ASL expo plans and focus on Deaf Nation as it benefits us.

However, ASL expo in St. Paul MN sound appealing to me as I am local. No Deaf nation plans to come here. But ASL Expo's location in St. Paul requires to pay for parking as its not free. Not good planning ahead where to park the car and where to get the shuttle etc... Poor planning and cost inefficient for community.

Its my 2 cent... don't shoot me down!

To amend on what I mentioned previous post. I want to say that I did attend ASL Expo in Wheaton IL in April. I was not impressed with amount of people attended. The location of ASL expo was not good.

Attend Deaf Nation and was impressed.

To my experience of attending both Deaf Nation Expo and ASL Expo, I'd have to say Deaf Nation Expo fares better than ASL Expo has.

I went to the ASL Expo in Louisville this past September. I thought it would be packed with tons of booths and people but really, it was just more like of a mini-version of Deaf Nation Expo. Both Expos has the similarities of getting performers, booths, foods, people, so and on but the feel of it is far better at Deaf Nation because of it's atmosphere.

That is what happend with DeafNation in Portland, Oregon. Poor location as if people wanted to leave, they would've to pay for parking--twice. Also there was only one food vendor.

Whereas if they had it in Seattle, ample parking, and plenty of restaurants to choose from at the Seattle Center.

DeafNation is impressive if they think accordingly to the socioeconomics of their deaf brothers & sisters when setting up an expo. :)

I like to say i didnt have to pay any money to get in ASL expo. I printed a coupon online and got in free. :) for those who didnt bring coupon will have to pay 5 dollars to get in.

i didnt remember see any foods at the asl expo? only many booths?

they had pony ride, fun stuffs for kids , face painting, big jumphouse, etc.. kids had fun..
