I just want to say how much I appreciate being guest on here and :ty: for giving me more chance to learn! I am naturally somewhat shy and don't always learn the way others do cause of LD, but I love to read and understand what is on AllDeaf and am glad to do it because I think VERY important for Deaf culture to continue, regardless of what hearing think or not. :ty:

I think, after over 200 posts, you are more than a guest here. I would call it "member" instead.

Thank you, dogmom! This discussion board gives us a lot of feedback on what we, Deafies, have on our experiences as Deaf children into Deaf adults. It had not been easy for us to go through the many obstacles (if that is the right spelling) to be in an oral environment or oral method without an interpreter and ASL to begin with. I am glad you are learning something about us. Also it was a trying time for us not want to get "fix" to be an hearing people in the hearing world. We are pretty satisfy being Deaf and enjoy every minutes of signing the ASL very much. You are also welcome for us to give you the insight and lessons on how you learn about us. Just don't be shy and join us to discuss any way you want to discuss with us on the forum. I hope to see more of you around in the discussion topics. Just have fun with us. Debate is good for the spirit. :thumb:

:gpost: You have said it better to dogmom to already a member of AllDeaf. True! True! She did not know it and thought she is a guest instead of a member no matter if she is Hearing or Deaf/Hard of Hearing. :cool2:

I am sure everyone is glad to have you as a member dogmom.

I am a fellow dog mom too so we have a shared interest. :)

Glad u like AD and us, members but wait...u r a member too! :)

oh, :ty: very kind, am proud to be member of AllDeaf now!!

thank you for kind comments too and "thumbs up", Bebonang :D
learning about people and cultures important

I much appreciate all kind thoughts from everyone :D

LONG LIVE ALLDEAF/ASL!

I have been away from alldeaf for many months but now I'm back.

To OP yep I always refer alldeaf to hearing friends or to other forums that have no idea what deaf people is like. Alldeaf is great forums not just for deaf socializing but invaluable information for hearies to learn about ASL or deaf culture.

 lumbingmi!

yes, knowledge invaluable! before, had been taking ASL learning from Deaf woman, haven't seen her in a while due to work conflicts but maybe next week we will meet. But is very good for me to learn on AD more about many issues facing Deaf community! I am glad to read what folks on AD have to say -

Absolutely, dogmom! You are a member! And we are very glad to have you as a member!

I signed up in 2006....never posted...somehow got side-tracked with other sites. I came back to AD when a friend asked me to check it out, forgetting that I already had! 3 years ago!

I'm enjoying it very much also! Seems I'm able to "open up" more! And the responses are awesome! I enjoy "picking and choosing" the forum that I might be interested in, other sites only give you a few choices.

The mods may have to carry me out "on a stretcher"....or ban me! HA! I enjoy it that much! And yea...I'm learning a lot! My thrist for knowledge knows no bounds! "Does curosity kill the cat"?? Hope not!

 :ty: Jillio! Great to read on Deaf education, debates, all good to know, more people need to -

Hi there rockin' robin!

Funny you should say that. She is a school psychologist, lol!

I'm glad you see it that way and you are more than welcome to make the best of your stay around here on AllDeaf.

There are so many amazing various information related to the deafness. There's tons and tons of resources for everyone to have a look and what's even better is that - This is a place where real people put real stuffs on this forum.

It's not like where you come across a website that seems to be jaded and alluring. Half of the time it's not even vitalized or it seems to have a "fake" feel to it.

Everyone else is also welcome on this forum too and the people here definitely rocks, despite of how much we agree or disagree, ha!

dogmom, no need for thanks to AD, I think actually the community welcomes you with no strings attached.

What everyone really wants is more participants with open minds to come enjoy and share their day along with their brains. So don't feel afraid to talk out on something even if you join in the debates, just make sure they understand you specifically where you are coming from.

You're actually one of the role models I wish 95% of the first timer guests could end up doing.

:ty:Jolie and Naisho !

Yes one of the things I like is real people debating and having open discussions :D

Agreed, tons of resources on here, and good advice, Naisho!
I tend to be very patient and watch/listen more than I talk, like to see various points of view.
