Hi :)
I am student of computer science and I am quite interested in speech recognition. Next year I will be doing my bachelor thesis and I would like to create some smartphone app, that would help deaf people. I would be really glad, if you could share some ideas of what you could need :) (It actually doesnt need to be smartphone app, normal program as well, anything that crosses your mind will help me).

Tough road ahead

Speech to text has been a promising technology for the future ... for a long time. There is a need for something simple with a limited vocabulary that would enable deaf people to get "codes" used in two-factor authentication as is done increasingly by banks, credit card companies, etc. Vocabulary would be numbers and obvious words like: dial, touch, tone, social, security, account, number, press, code, enter, and the like.

It would need to be optimized for telephone bandwidth.
