anyone rides fast motorcycles with CI?

thats right im asking that, because well, im seriously considering both, CI (sick of the tinnitus and failing hearing althought already deaf just HA is becoming more useless and i really want to buy a Triumph 955 im just sick of the boring car, id keep it though useful but i wanna spice up and that I missed motorcycling badly

anyone can share views?

many bikers wear ear plugs while riding. you don't really need to hear while riding because all you hear is wind noise and loud engine rumbling.
 
did you missed the last bit in my statement? i missed motorcycling. what does that say about my past? indeed I had experienced riding motorcycles, and in addition i did motocross which is like twice as loud than road riding.

so no, its not true that 'you dont need to hear' there are ALOT of advantages of hearing whilst riding, heck even the upraising woman motocross star said right here in AD that she cant change lines simply because she cant sense the other riders like others do, this is an inherent disadvantages of d/Deaf in motor-racing, i know i been there too

what i really what to know are there any riders on sports bikes wearing CIs so what is it like, what can i expect? what kind of remapping (to help hear engine, environmental noise for increase safetly? any good hints for that?

and right now my HA is fast becoming obsolete as an effective means to aid my hearing loss (thats an unfavourable term in AD) but its really an audiological description nothing more) so i am at the point i may want to be a personal decision to take advantage of this technology just to live again, i arent living atm, im a ghost
 
no I did not miss your last sentence but you did say you're interested in Triumph 955. That's not a motobike and you're not racing. With that bike - my logical assumption is that you're going to be riding "fast" on street/highway. The usefulness of "hearing" while riding with that bike is basically minimal.

beside - i don't see how you can wear CI with helmet on especially with FF type.

I ride and do like to hear even though I have loud pipes. While I agree it's not necessary it is nice to be able to hear siren, horn's etc. I don't think you need to worry about a CI and riding a mototcycle though.

Not all states have helmet laws. But.... you don't want your CI to blow away in the wind without a helmet on... .you could wear a headband to keep it in place.

yea but I'm sure Grummer is going to wear a helmet. beside - it's incredibly dumb not to wear one.

Wouldn't CI come off if you ride fast enough?

yeah it could but that is why I said maybe wear a headband to hold it in place. If you are going to wear a helmet then there should be enough room for the CI. It doesn't protrude that much.

I don't even wanna think about what would happen if you land on back of your helmet because of a left-hooker or some asshole who hit you from behind. :Ohno:

IMO - keep CI in your pocket and wear a FF helmet with a snug fit. it's a small price to pay for your own life and safety. When I first started motorcycling, I even asked the bike shop to find me a helmet that will fit well with my HA on. He chuckled and said - pft you don't need to hear. I wear ear plugs and I can't hear a damn thing! you're very lucky that you're deaf!!

The magnet would be on the side of your head, not the back. Plus the padding of the helmet should absorb most of the impact which is what it is designed to do. That said I would tend to agree to just not wear it allthough the ability to hear something could potentially save your life. It's really up to the individual to make the choice.
 
so, arent there a CI/ deaf websites outlining whats the best helmet brand to replace? say on grounds of fabrics of the inner linings which does not induce statics and or the actaul heltmet shell how does it react with magnet, weaken or strength it?? (last question is bit dumb i suppose since helmets are fiberglass/kevlar, but other brands/method might be surprising who knows

or is there anything i should know when shopping for a new helmet?

tell me why Triumph is not a motorcyle :mad2:

fast bikes like triumph are big on personality, unlike sewing machines
and smaller bikes simply dont get noticed on the road for respect then safety
you know why? the public sees a big bike they know its a BIKE, and respect the rider aboard it well they tend to.

i just cant stand 4 cylinders never liked the feel and noise of it, except the 2 stroke fours, V twins are great, and the V4s were good too VFR700 and up , not the measly porky shit handling VF500 ewwww
 
I rode a motorcycle before.... twice. First time, I was only 15 and My Dad was teaching me how to ride motorcycle... I didn't have helmet on... I was just in shorts and tanktop and we were on my Grandpa's farm. After I got hand of it... I went a bit fast...like 40 miles per hour...and I make a biggest mistake... I was turning around too fast on Gravel and I slip a bit... crashed into a barn and the motorcycle landed on me. The engine has burned my ankle and left a scar on there. But I was fine, my CI didn't break or anything, luckily.

Second time, was when I was riding behind my Uncle's as he drives the motorcycle and he's been going over 70 miles per hour... we were driving around in Alaska... it was fun and I was wearing Helmet so my CI wasn't damaged.

It's ok to ride motorcycle with CI as long as you wear a helmet with it.

That was a rocket 20 years ago, wow i cant believe its been 20 years sheeet im getting old.....

so now i want a bike that is more modern got all bells and whistles and 150mph+ as a sweet with all the torque and minus sluggish low end that characteristic of inline fours.

Catty suggested cutting the foam/inner linings to make some room for your CI

I just looked at my post #4 and woops! I can see how my post can be misunderstanding. Let me clarify -

motobike = dirt bike
your bike = crotch rocket

I was referring to the part where you were talking about this deaf dirt bike girl. Being able to hear would be helpful for her when racing but you don't need to hear when you're out riding (IMO)

no, its motorbike, or motocross (no spelling errors here) and bike is short for bi-cycle which refers to 2 wheels. it would be awkward to call it 'engine bike' like if fate went another way in the past we might have actually ended up calling bikes, 'engine bikes' or heck even 'solo engines'. Etymology is a funny thing indeed.

Crotch rocket is a sexist term, i dont accept it. why motorcycles got to enlarge egos or dicks? or the 'mark of the man' deemed in the riding skills? that's so lame and misleading about maturity, ok grant overcoming fears or 'road wisdom' to be able survive the road for a long time into old age as an old biker is a sign of the 'man' not because he's a great skilled (can be that though) but more its a sign of wisdom as not being a fool to overtake, keep wits about the roads, making good judgement.

When I am on the back of Hubby's bike. I take my Hearing Aids out, Due to you hear nothing but a bunch of wind and feedback from the HA.
