I have been reading about hyperbaric chambers. There are two kinds I guess. The bigger pressurized vault where you wear a mask and they crank up the pressure and you breath 90 some % oxygen for 90 minutes.
It is apparently useful for a lot of things that defy the normal healup.
Then there is the fad things the athletes are using- a portable cocoon looking thing that mostly just pressures up normal air. Some people apparently pump in oxygen as well through a mask but it is still a milder experience than the big vault with technicians watching dials etc.
The medical industry has it so you need a prescription from the right kind of doctor to buy into anything oxygen. This is what I read any way.
I am really really sleep deprived from having central sleep apnea. I would like to try the big vault. I have called the local outfit running a chamber and am not getting anywhere. I guess I have to spend a fortune on a doctor again. In my research I have run across the claim that it sometimes works well for tinnitus to hang out in the pressure.
Anyone try these things? What do you think?

I understand that Terrell Owens used it the year Philadelphia Eagles made the Super Bowl. You would be interested in looking it up.

I am interested at this point in my life in what the former athletes are doing. I know they have superior bodies but I cannot help but think that a lot of them are like me. Up at 3 in the morning with an icebag on their knee going ouch. The HBOT therapy really resonates with me. It is up to me to save myself. There is so much more to do.
I myself am not wild about all the pills and chemicals we ingest nowdays. If we had better systems to monitor ourselves at home we could really dial in individual care. A lot of this type 2 diabetes and heart disease and cancer is the result of bad diet, chemical and radiation exposures, and improper exercise. I am guilty of all of that stuff.
I see that these things are hugely expensive. I cannot help but think that there could be in a future time a chamber of this sort in every home and that they will serve many different functions.

Do you currently use a CPAP or BiPAP to sleep? If not I cannot stress strongly enough how much you need to talk to your dr about getting and using one.

If you've tried a CPAP in the past and "not liked it", ask if you can try BiPAP settings instead.

Sleep apnea isn't an oxygenation issue, it's a ventalation issues (which causes O2 drops due to not breathing).

Hyper-oxygenation reduces respiratory drive, which in the case of many conditions such as sleep apnea (including CSA) can be very dangerous.

Hi Anij, I am tooled up with the Bipap w/ auto serv. I tolerate it okay and do use it. I am still on the edge of exhaustion all of the time and have elevated co2 during the daytime. I want more than this. My recovery from injury is too slow. In fact I should heal from whatever caused this in the first place. From what I have read there are people with CSA that are getting oxygen added to their breathing mixture. I did not know about this but now that I do I am going to go to the other sleep doc and see what the skinny is. I will also ask him questions about the hyperbaric chamber.
I read of good results from the use of it for quite a number of conditions.
I do not read of people actually personally saying yeah that thing helped me. That is the part I am curious about. There is a lot of information out there but I like to hear what people say. People are smart they have ideas and are the ones actually being guineau pigs for all of this stuff.
