ID software and Universal are working on a movie based on the infamous first person shooter killer game ever created in gaming history...DOOM.
They've found a new director who would work for the movie, the director who've made movies including "Romeo Must Die" starring Jet Li. The casting weren't complete yet, but there were rumors that the popular wrestler of WF, "The Rock" would take role as the lead character of the sci-fi horror film coming in 2006.
Doom movie gets new director
Cradle 2 the Grave helmer Andrzej Bartkowiak takes over Universal's adaptation of id's hell-on-Mars shooter.
Even though id Software still hasn't officially acknowledged it is a done deal, Universal is moving forward with its movie adaptation of Doom. Today, the film's producers announced they have brought a new director on board the project. Polish director and former cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak, director of Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, and Cradle 2 the Grave, will take over the project. He replaces Enda McCallion, who had to leave the film for "personal reasons," according to Variety. The Doom movie is tentatively slated for a 2006 release; no casting announcements have been made, but reportedly the Rock has been offered the lead.
