Remember the first movie... The Mummy? The antagonist was Imhotep.
They made a sequel called The Mummy Returns where the antagonist was Imhotep again, but involved a worse antagonist known as Mathayus (aka the Scorpion King).
Next was a spin-off movie, a prequel... The Scorpion King. Instead of Mathayus being the antagonist, he's the protagonist. Mathayus is an assassin who ends up becoming the Scorpion King.
They recently released another sequel, which was actually a prequel... The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior. In this movie, Mathayus is still the protagonist. This time, the story follows Mathayus before he becomes an assassin.
After seeing all of this happen, it makes me wonder about what they will do after they recently released The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Will they do another spin-off prequel called The Dragon Emperor with Han being the protagonist?
