Android App for your cell phone T2 hearing aid volume

I was messing around with the android market and found a nifty app. Look up DTMF Tone on your cell and when you install it you can turn your HA up or down :D (providing your HA has that T2 option already).

No more pulling out the dialer and accidentally pressing the wrong button and calling people lol
 
nope, works just fine with mine.

I press *** then 2 for up and forgot whats for down lol but it works.

Looks like you need a Starkey hearing aid with the T² feature. If you have it, than you can use a cell phone with an android operating system and the Starkey android app called the T² Hearing Adjuster as a remote control for your hearing aids.

Generous of Starkey to do that. It means that they are giving up the option of selling you a remote control which usually costs a lot of money and no doubt comes with a hefty profit margin.

I think they mean something else. I'm guessing Starkey's marketing dept thought it would be cute to call a remote control feature "T²" (probably pronounced "T squared") because T usually stands for telecoil and the telecoil also works wirelessly.

But I predict that it's going to be very, very confusing because T2 is one of the possible ratings that can be given to a cellphone or hearing aid that measures how compatible the device is in an inductive coupling -- vs. acoustic coupling. That is, the score tells us how well the cellphone or hearing aid works when the consumer is using the telecoil on their hearing aid with a cell phone. (M ratings score how well the cellphone or hearing aid works when the consumer is using the microphone on their hearing aid with a cell phone.)

Most people probably don't have the ability to type the superscript 2 in T² (T squared), so a lot of people will probably start calling that feature T2. And to top it off, T2 is a bad rating! Double fail!!!! LOL! I predict headaches for audiologists and D/d/HoH hearing aid users everywhere! :D

Good feature, bad name -- maybe Starkey will rename it. :shrug:

Really does starkey only offer HA that you can adjust volume with your cell phone? yes the T2 Hearing Adjuster is a starkey app, but the other apps can work just as well (without even paining for the app)

I don't know. I tried to find out using google but nothing came up about any other hearing aid company offering apps that let you use smartphones as remote controls for their HAs. Doesn't mean there aren't any others out there of course, sometimes my google-fu is really weak. :( :)
