That's true for coastal cities (LA, San Diego, SF, Orange County) but inland counties are cheaper and very unattractive.

Yeah, it's expensive to own or rent a home due to nice weather and location. Retail prices on clothing, food, furnitures, etc are similiar all over America except Alaska (?) and Hawaii. Some online retailers charge extra for shipping to those states.
 
The imperial valley is expensive and unattractive. There are areas of sd that are cheaper and better to live in.
 
there are always audists trying to do stuff like these.
