PANAMA CITY BEACH-- If you were near the Splash Resort on Front Beach Road Monday afternoon, you might have noticed a lot of commotion on the beach.
Move over Jaws, there's a new guy in town, this alligator! Witnesses say the alligator was between six and eight feet. long.
Officials first got the call a little before 1 p.m. about the gator swimming in the Gulf. They then cleared the water and beach to try to catch the gator using jet skis and fishing rods.
This picture was sent in by a viewer visiting our area on vacation with her grandmother.
Alligators average between six and twelve feet depending on the sex. They can only tolerate salt water for a short period of time because they do not have salt glands.
