Allergies? Fluid in your Ear?

Ok this ear mold seriously hurts! it feels as if its cutting my ear!

I'm not going to have any options except to wait til tomorrow when the office is open.
I would really hate to have to choose between comfort and sound, problem is I'm stuck with this hard mold.

Check if they will trade in for a hearing aid that is stronger and uses a real mold.

If not, check the Hear Now from Starkey and see if you can be given hearing aids.

:lol: I know that pain. I tried in-ear hard mold was a big mistake. Never ever no more hard molds for me.

I had a conversation with someone here about silicone molds. They could cause ringing in ear so Im going to try something different. How many type of ear-molds are there? Anyone?

Get a new one made - it should be under "warranty". My new soft molds have a two month warranty & I had to get them remade because of comfort issues. BTW - my hearing loss is severe to profound.
 
I think the only way I can have a soft mold is if its doesn't have the speaker in it. Either way I'm shot an extra $200 down stuck with this one prolly. Hopefully I can get some of it shaved off or something, it seriously hurts!

Your Audi should take a new impression & have a new one made at NO additional cost to you.
 
going in asap Monday to get this taken care of. This really freaking hurts I don't understand why. I think all hes going to do is sand some of it off, who knows.

Sanding MAY help, but if it doesn't, don't accept them...insist on a remake (at NO additional cost).
 
Ok so the audiologist did make a new mold for me. He said the one they made kept pushing itself out and looks like it wasn't formed all the way, who knows, so I'm back with the squishy sponge ear pluggy thingy until that mold is ready. Hopefully it works.

For some reason though, the mold process hurt this time. Not painfully bad, but uncomfortable and not a good feeling.

Im glad you getting a new mold. I know what those squishy sponge molds you talking about. They comfy but are you hearing just ok with it? :)

I WISH I can just stick with the squishy mold, but I still don't benefit enough with it. I hear myself and I sound weird like muffled and off, and everyone around me sounds like chipmunks.

The mold with the build in speaker I get the clearness, and its almost as if I had the same hearing as I did when I first got the hearing aid.

:hmm: I hope they don't make the canal part too long. That's one of the things that I think was wrong with my new molds which is why I had her redo them (and she specified medium length on the canal part this time).

Well, imagine you walked 20 miles, then sat down and took your shoes off, then put them back on...it would be same thing as having bad fit HA for weeks, then putting something else in your ear. It is still sore from the HA. I sure hope they get it right this time. Geez.

Sorry about all this....wish I could help but I've never worn a HA in my life...(profound deaf)....had friends who did, and their complaints about them...mostly the "whistling" sounds....maybe some cheese cloth wrapped around the mold might help soften it somewhat when inserted in the ear?....(probably a dumb suggestion).

It all sounds so damn frustrating to me...more than likely I would snatch the HA out of my ear and leave it out...but I know you need it for work....
 
I had ITE's that I was told were better than BTE's. They were OtoSonic and very hard shell. They had to shave down my right one at least 5 times before it stopped rubbing and creating more and more issues. Then, it seems I was constantly getting ear infections. I am so glad I don't have to rely on them anymore. Nothing in my ears now and mostly earache free. Still get swimmer's ear on my rushed mornings after a shower.

Yes whistling sound is the feedback and thats freaking annoying as hell. Hearing aids are a bliss and curse enpsecially when your in a hospital and bunch of kids are screaming.. ahhh! be glad you have profound loss :giggle: (my right ear is profound :aw: )

Yea this one is pretty weird, its still a BTE, but referred as RIC and has a hard shell with the speaker in it. so I'd be able to hear out of two speakers. I really really hope this one is more comfortable because these guys don't do soft mold.... *sighs*
 
My ear is itching.... lol

I'm sure I might have some healing going on from the bad fit last time. Haven't got the new mold yet but omg my ear itches!

My ENT had told me before, to use a little baby oil or Vitamin E oil on a cotton ball in the ear to relieve the itching.
