I tried to take a gander at the writing, but the images are too blurry. Sorry, Spice!

Cool pics, though! I like medical stuff! :)

OK, ya'll.. Shut up! I know I'm weird!

EDIT:

I got one!

The picture in the third row? Far left, says
"Degenerative lateral removed"

Basically, they are saying they removed damaged tissue laterally. If that makes sense?

ok this is last post with pictures... this is like "after" repairing my knee and its quite is interesting . from what it look like.. the first picture it look really rugged and doctor said in that one he removed bad tissues and on 2nd and 3rd he was inserting my tendons from somewhere i forgot where and on 4th to 6th pictures were brand new lignament (ACL) which was taken from dead body. (you could tell tendons were from my own body cuz its already had blood in it and everything and ACL were white so they were from dead body and they had to clean it first before put it in my knee) interesting isnt it? and comment said new ACL graft and pointing to last 3 pictures.

I had been there for my both knees (injuried from sport games). Yeah, I was nervous at first sugery..then I was ready (not much nervous) for second sugery few years later.

You will be fine and only pain - your knee surgery area....give or take half month then you will be fine as long as you keep excrising on your weak knee to be full strength. What best? Take painkiller medicine that will make you :dizzy:  Good luck!

Looks cool !!!!!! I can't read the handwriting of the doctor either. Looks like the doctor did a very good and through job and a very professional job on your knee. Hopefully you will be able to be moving around soon. Please let that leg heal up especially the knee itself. Hopefully by the end of the year or early next year like January or Feburary you will be able to run around, jump and shout with joy !!!!! :fingersx: Thank you for the pictures , they are cool to look at. Medical technology is becoming more advanced and very interesting !!!!! :ty:

I'm glad you're great recovery!
Which it's great news you're fine!
Your knee will come heal few wks and walk again! *wink*

is it normal for me to be over emotional after surgery? cuz now i feel like crying at a drop of a pin... i hated it lol

I did not cry but I had my days where I was happy and another days when I was not too happy. You will be okay. Have faith and confidence that you will make it through and God Bless .....

i knw you ll go through the pain esepcially when the painkillers runs out anyhoo you ll be fine i ve known you for a long time 15 years it is....... you are one tough gal the toughest i ve ever known believe me you are i know you l l make it throught this and about the emotional stuff its your emotion catching up to your b ody stress i mean you just had an knee surgery the bodily chemicals must be pretty messed up right? the pain the pain killers the relief of making it out alive maybe y our subconsious are so emotional due to you being alive
of course its just an theory i cant prove all this its just an educated guess

im having a knee surgery this thurs:Ohno: and ill be out patient type of thing so i go in at 12 30 pm and out by 6 pm... im soooooo nervous abt it because i never been in surgery except for head surgery (cochlear implant at age 9) so i dont remember much at all. torn lignment. i was being told that dr will take tissues from dead body and put it in my right knee. AHHHHHHHH :run: eeeeeeeeeeeek! im nervous wreck!

anybody got stories abt knee surgerys? leg surgeries? ankle surgeries? so i can have an idea of what to expect even though it s probably not same as it will be for me.:hyper:

My wife has had surgery on her kneecap about 15 years ago. It took a long long time to completely recover (several months). Even today when the weather changes, her knee starts to throb sometimes. She says it was a little scary, but overall it wasn't too bad. Her kneecap used to get "disconnected" and float around the joint. It hurt a lot when this would happen. It has not happened again since the surgery, so she's thankful for that. She's able to do sports again as well.

Don't worry, you'll be fine! :thumb:

It's probably just your body recovering from all the anestetic and pain killers. If one of the pain killers contains any kind of mood altering chemicals, it could also be that. You might want to ask your doctors what each drug does (probably some kind of antibiotic and some kind of strong pain killer). Be careful with some pain killers, they can have bad side effects, especially if the dosage is too high. Often they can cause stomache and bowel problems, not to mention the psychological effects. When I had hand surgery last year, they gave me some kind of pain killer and it really messed up my stomache and I had a small bout of depression for a couple of weeks. I eventually stopped taking the prescription pain killers and started taking regular tylenol. I felt a lot better after that. For something like leg surgery, you'll probably have to take something stronger than tylenol though.

Oh, I didn´t see this thread until today...

I´m glad that everything goes smooth for you.. Sure, you will be fine... My hubby had it at 13 years ago.

True, my hubby had been through like what your wife did. He get better since knee surgery... but he get hurt sometimes due weather but not bad.

here are pics of my knee first with brace then with bandage then with dressing only then finally bare knee... warning some pictures has blood in it so may be gross

im able to take on and off the braces anytime i want or feel i need to but dr forbids me to try and walk without braces (totally understandable)

i also am allowed to take bandage off to give my leg some air for few moments but again wihtout bandage i cant walk around. since the dressing look so terrible filled wiht blood, i went to doctor for a change and they cleaned my surgery and it look really cool to me lol. they said since theres not much blood dried up on skin itself that means i have stopped bleeding which is good so now i got a fresh nice dressing on with no blood at all and new bandage too as well.

dr said surgery look really good but from what i seen on my own photo of the knee it look terrible lol. well im totally worn out so good nite guys.

Hi SpiceHD, That is great !!!!! I am sure you have been wanting to be able to take the bandage off to give some air as well as speed up the healing process so you can get back to walking on your two feet again. Have a good night and God Bless

great news!!! today i got braces off and bandage too as well. the nurse took stitches out and my doc told me to start walk now heh. he also told me to try and not use clutches so much but i knew ill use it for next couple days till my leg is able to hold my wieght wihtout so much pain. i finally can go shower and get whole of my body to clean up YAY!

also i saw the xray and learned that he stapled my muscles together so tha means i got metal in my knee heh . my knee looks pretty good despite the fact its swollen. my doctor gave me 2 weeks to get my leg straight out and is able to bend my knee while standing up. (i can bend my leg but cant lift calf part without help) Also he changed my braces so now its locked not moveable and is used for night time only. reason for that is cuz i have muscle reflex that cause both of my legs to kinda jump while i was sleeping and often it has woken me up in past cuz of pain from that damn reflex. but again he wants me to use it less and less cuz he want s to see me walk without any assistance by 2 weeks later.

so i know ill have a nightmare time for next 2 weeks cuz exerise is not fun at all but i will do it :)
