ACC surplus riles Deaf - Newstalk ZB

ACC's $2 billion surplus has riled the National Foundation for the Deaf, which says the corporation needs to go back to the drawing board with its policies. The foundation is concerned ACC is boasting it is on track to achieve the result this year, but at the same time it is cutting funding for people with work-related damage to their hearing.

Foundation Chief executive Louise Carroll says it is all very well to be aiming for a surplus, but ACC should be ashamed to be doing it on the back of the suffering of New Zealanders.

She says ACC should stop, consult properly, and come up with better regulations for people with noise-induced hearing loss. Ms Carroll says between 50- to 70,000 New Zealanders will be affected by the changes.
