hello!

my name is Efrat, I'm a graphic design student in Jerusalem, Israel.

I have been working with the deaf community in Israel for the last 4 years, and was amazed at the new world I discovered.

I am now studying in an art school, and doing an assignments concerning the deaf comunity. for this assignments, i need to get a video of deaf people applauding (deaf people in here wave their hands instead of clapping, I'm assuming it's the same way all over the world..)

is there a chance you know of a way I can get a good quality video of it (it does not need to be long..)?

thank you!
efrat

Yes, shaking hands in the air is done here in America.

A couple weeks ago, there was an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent involving deaf people and they did it. :)

Same for here in my country we waves our hands in the air for applause too.

Dont yu have a video camera to video or capture those shots yourselves Efrat??

yes, but..

I can get a video camera, but getting enough people to shoot for the video can be a trouble, so i'm seeking easier ways...

again, if anyone has any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them!

When does ur assignment need to be done by?? and what kind of tape do u used?? as can tape it for u and get it sent but it an awfully long way to post it and dont wanna lose them in the mail thinking it a bomb parcel. Get my drift.

Here a clue that might help check out yu tube and see if there anything like the deafies doing the hands waves. That one suggestion,

Is there a school for the Deaf near you? Or maybe go to Deaf community event/social? I don't even know if they even do it the same way as we do it in the states - the waves in the air verus the clapping. I'd like to assume that we all do the hand waves, since it's obivous for us that we, Deafies, use our eyes instead of our ears. :]

Good luck on your video project. If you get stuck, just get in front of the camera and do it yourself. :P
